course?

This is a two-year
course and is a joint venture with Doncaster South
CLC. Students will spend time at
the CLC where they will have access to a wider range of specialist equipment.
What will I learn to do?
This is a practical,
work related course. You learn by
completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace
situations and activities. There
are three core units, which are as follows:

What skills do I need?
A BTEC First Diploma
is the equivalent of four GCSEs grade A*-C as a
result, this course will only be open to the most motivated students.
Students need to be organised and interested in the world of media. An ability to be creative and
enthusiastic is vital.

Content
The qualification is made up of 7 units and candidates need to complete one mandatory Unit (digital graphics) and 4 optional units chosen from

of Assessment
Assessment is by coursework and candidates will have to produce a final product for each unit.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop candidates' skills in the use of applications to plan a solution against a specification and provide a product or service to meet their customers' needs. For example, a website for a drinks manufacturer who has just launched a sugar free beverage.
Entry
Requirements
The course will be ideal for those who have studied GNVQ or BTEC Media, but can be completed by those who have a keen interest in the Media Industry and are prepared to work on their own initiative and in different groups. Candidates who have produced their own films, websites or electronic music in the past are particularly welcomed.

The course has been developed in consultation with partners in industry, further education and schools. It has been designed as a route into, or further development of skills in, a wide range of job roles within the dynamic interactive media industry.
It will be appropriate to those preparing to work as: web designers, graphic artists, multimedia producers, animators, sound designers and editors, video producers, games designers and storyboarders.
