What will I learn to do?

 

Essential activities explored in the course are:

 

Paper One

Written coursework which is undertaken during Year 10 and 11. There will be a number of assessment pieces both performed and written with strict deadlines.

 

This written coursework is 60% of the final grade and is split into 2 units.

 

Unit One Drama Exploration Improvisation.

 

In this unit drama is used as a medium to explore themes, issues and ideas. You will be given the opportunity to use a variety of drama forms to explore a theme, deepen your understanding and to communicate you ideas through drama.

Unit 1

 

Unit Two Drama Exploration Play Texts

During this unit you will explore a complete and substantial play text. The purpose of this unit is to understand the ways in which playwrights, performers, directors and designers use drama to communicate their ideas to an audience.

Unit 2

 

Both of these units are internally assessed through practical work supported by a portfolio of written evidence. All students must be willing to write at length as it is worth 60% of the final grade.

 

Paper Two Examination

 

This examination is worth 40% and is the performance of a piece of scripted work done in front of an external examiner between February and May of the year of examination.

Your teacher has a specific set of guidelines for this piece which is externally marked and moderated.
